Profile

Established in 1969, after years of contribution of intelligence and hardworking from pioneers, the Institute has become a primary resource of defense technology with a broad spectrum of capabilities in the defense technology research and development, as well as the management and integration of advanced weapon systems.

Since the set-up of Dual-Use Technology Development Fund by Ministry of National Defense in 1994, the Institute has started to promote dual-use technologies aimed to implement the nurture of defense related technologies in the civil sectors and to prosper the national economy. This will lead to enhance our national strength through the mutual support between defense and civilian industries.

Our efforts focus on the development of electronic and information warfare technologies and the integration of the large weapon systems. In addition, allied with domestic research institutions, the Institute expands the academic cooperative research and fosters the academic communities’ participation in the basic research of defense technology. We will also go on helping the civil sectors to upgrade their technological capabilities through the dual-use technology programs.

The institute has six research divisions and five centers.
